Your router is powered and broadcasting the Wi-Fi signal in the 2.4GHz range.
Your thermostat is not in a place with poor signal from the router. For example, most homes have “dead spots” where Wi-Fi signals are unreliable. Your thermostat 'sees' and connects to the home network, not a guest network. If you must connect to your guest network, you will need to unblock port 443 in the guest network firewall. Each thermostat has a unique MAC ID and MAC CRC which is unique to your device. You’ll need to know these numbers in order to register your thermostat or to perform some troubleshooting activities. The MAC ID and MAC CRC represent the alphanumeric code displayed on the thermostat screen during the registration process.
It is also located on the thermostat registration card inside the thermostat packaging. You can also find it on the back of the thermostat simply by taking the thermostat off the wall plate. Your old thermostat model may not have required a wire connected to a C terminal. Honeywell offers many great that do not require the need for a C wire to power the device. Most of these thermostats are powered by basic AAA or AA batteries. The C wire or Common wire is necessary to provide 24-volt power to your Honeywell Wi-Fi or connected thermostat (exception is the ) and for use with Apple HomeKit. If this wire is not plugged into the C terminal, and you want to know if you have one or not, be sure to check if there is an extra wire that is pushed into the wall or wrapped around the wire bundle coming from the wall. Gently pull on the wire bundle to check whether there are any additional wires. If you do find an extra wire, you can try connecting it to your thermostat's C terminal, but you must also ensure that the same wire is connected at the furnace's terminal panel.
Please review our page for pictures and step by step instruction to confirm that your system meets compatibility requirements. If you do not have a C wire and need one to power your Wi-Fi or connected thermostat, there are several options like using a Honeywell Wire Saver Module, a thermostat that uses phantom power or the G wire solution. Just noticed that my thermostat's temperature setback (currently in away) is set at 15 right now with the interior temperature at 17.5 6:00 am - 18 (wake up) 7:30 am - 15 (away) 2:45 pm - 19 (return) 9:30 pm - 17 (sleep) The surprisingly thing that I noticed while having lunch was that the thermostat sets itself to Recovery Mode and then forces the furnace to run at 19? A quick look up on the web suggest I set the thermostat at one temperature and leave it as is but it doesn't make sense to warm the house to 19 when there's no one at home (on some days) What exactly is this recovery mode. Our furnace is fairly new and is a Carrier while the thermostat is a Honeywell.
Not sure what leads to the Recovery Mode and if there's any way to avoid it because it defeats the purpose of setting various temperatures throughout the day. What's the thermostat model?
Recovery mode is when the thermostat turns on the heating/cooling ahead of time so it reaches the set point by the scheduled time. In other words, you set the time for when you want it to reach that temperature, and the thermostat learns how long it takes to warm up. So it was just trying to be smart for you and get it to 19 degrees by 2:45. There is possibly a way to disable it in programming.but I don't see the reason as it should be good and save energy? (by turning it up only as soon as needed according to conditions). Thanks everyone for helping me out. Good to know it isn't acting up.
I rarely work from home but today I did and noticed why the heat was on when I knew it was suppose to only warm up beginning. The feature below explains it all. The model number wasn't evident on the outside and so I had to pull the front unit out and check a small sticker inside. Honeywell TH4110D1007 Programmable Thermostat Among the features is: Adaptive Intelligent Recovery - ensures programmed temperature is reached by programmed time.
