Cantate Domino is a short, lightly dancing setting of Psalm 95 cast technically very much in the same mould as the mass, though the key is Bb, with two pairs of voices (S/A, T/B) doubling each other at the octave and four instrumental lines, two of them T-voices, the other two doubling the voices at a higher and lower octave still. Cantate Domino canticum novum. Laus eius in ecclesia sanctorum Laetetur Israel in eo qui fecit eum Et liae Syon Exultent in rege suo. Cantate Domino canticum novum. Sing unto the Lord a new song. Praise him in the holy churches Rejoice, Israel, in he that hath made thee, and daughters of Sion.
Dec 19, 2011 at 9:47 pm Can be bought in stores Acquired Yeah sure. ? Very beautiful, the kind of music my wife would like at first but then ask for more Shlomo Artzi. Doesn;t go anywhere, no grand finale, but I wouldn’t bother listening to it more than a few minutes at a time. Have you checked moondog? Also one of the exponents of minimalist music, it was said that he couldn’t compose very well so everyhting was written in major chords.
I like him as well. And if you tell me that you can buy his stuff at stores (you can’t) I will laugh.
